AFI FEST - International Film Festival

Overall Festival Programming Philosophy:
For more than 40 years, AFI has embraced and inspired the world's film community. Continuing this tradition, AFI FEST presented by Audi showcases films from around the globe that stretch the limits of our imagination and expand our understanding of the world.

The Festival saw record levels of business through films represented at both AFI FEST and the American Film Market (AFM). Activity among US distributors was particularly heavy throughout AFI FEST, with a record 56 titles in Official Selection also being represented at the AFM.

For 10 days in the fall, AFI FEST is delighted to host the international film community in the film capital of the world.

Pandora FilmsDir.   Sven Taddicken, starring Joerdis Triebel, Juergen Vogel, 2006, 99 min.,   German w/English s.t.

Beautifully filmed, show-don't-tell flick about a man dying of pancreatic   cancer and a down-to-earth young woman who takes him into her farmhouse after   he wrecks the Jaguar he wanted to get away in. The situations they get into   are by turns absurd, funny and moving.

Director Taddicken treats the subject with cheer and grace and sure instinct   for what really matters.

On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the L.A. - Berlin Sister city partnership, the LOS ANGELES-BERLIN SISTER CITY COMMITTEE in cooperation with LUFTHANSA present UTE LEMPER in
"A Journey from Berlin to Los Angeles"

Ute Lemper's performing career grows out of a passionate and enduring commitment to art, politics and history, and out of a contentious and complicated relationship with her homeland and its past. Her panache, versatility and sophisticated repertoire - including Berlin cabaret songs and the dark gems of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill - have led her to international acclaim as a recording artist, and in the theatre, cabaret and film worlds.

Guest of Honor, Governing Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit.
